After a long absence, we are back blogging about everything Davidson. Remember, there are seven of us and our trusty dogs Rudy and Kate. Needless to say, there is always something going on around here.

Congratulations to Jay, Sally and Ian Rogers on their new "addition". Kathryn Walker Rogers is absolutely beautiful and we can't wait to meet her in person. Jay and Sally tell us that Ian has easily slipped into the "big brother" role and loves his baby sister to pieces.
Welcome to the world little Kathryn, we love you!
BJ, Allen and Amy came for a visit this weekend and the kids were so excited, you would think it was Christmas.
You know your kids have good aunts & uncles when.....
1. Allen sat in this chair well over an hour holding Charlie just so he could take a nap.
2. BJ actually sat still for a picture with Max and Molly - which he HATES to do.
3. Amy can probably recite that book from memory as many times as she read it to Charlie.
We love you guys! Thanks for coming to visit!
We had a "play date" at the Zoo today with Sharon (twins's EI). It was REALLY hot, but the kids were amazed by how close we were to the animals.
Of course, we couldn't go to the zoo without taking Katie along. She is so funny. She immediately made us aware that she didn't like the elephant and she certainly didn't like bears (in fact, she refused to have her picture taken on the bear, no way, no how). And the second she walked into the reptile house, she turned around and high-tailed it right back out! What a smart girl! Speaking of smart, Sharon is amazed at how talkative Katie is and how clearly she speaks. Sharon would know, she's a professional at that kind of stuff. Way to go Katie girl! I can't help but to brag on her, I just love that kid.
No orthopedic walker, no braces and no help from mommy or daddy and Charlie is walking anyway! I know this photo isn't the greatest, but it's not easy to capture Charlie in motion. It goes without saying how proud we are of Charlie and all he has accomplished in the last 18 months, but walking is an enormous victory. It just goes to show you what prayer, faith and lots of therapy can do.....
This morning, Charlie & Matthew had hearing screenings in sound-proof booths. Both boys passed and do not have any hearing loss or impairment. This is great news because so much of what they hear feeds directly into their speech and language abilities. Now that we know they can hear for certain, we realized that they have just been ignoring us. Ha!Ha! The perfect example is this picture. We asked them not to play in the water fountain, but here they are, playing in the water anyway. We're such pushovers.......

Charlie & Matthew had their 18 month check-up last week and I am happy to report they are both doing great. They are still below the 10% in height and weight, but who cares, they will catch up sometime. Besides, they look HUGE to me, especially Matthew. Both babies go next week to developmental pediatrics to have special hearing tests, but we are confident that both boys will pass with flying colors. Charlie's vocabulary is over 50 words now and he is starting to learn pronouns (her's, his, etc.) along with adding more verbs and trying to use them in sentences. He is starting to color sort, which is a skill he shouldn't have for his age. Go Charlie! Matthew is beginning to talk more and has about 15 words he uses on a regular basis. Charlie is taking steps here and there, but nothing consistant. I have to say that early intervention and therapy have made all the difference in the twins lives. We count our blessings everyday around here.
I know that I say this all the time, but this is too cute not to pass along. I think Matthew looks just like Poppo. My kids are so lucky to have such wonderful grandparents. When Grandma and Poppo come to visit, it's play time and the kids just love it. It's funny to see all of us sitting on the floor in the twins room playing with toys, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
Okay, I know this doesn't matter to anyone else, but I made my first "no sew" blanket yesterday. I'm so shocked that I actually did it that I had to post it for everyone to see. I feel like a preschool kid showing off his/her artwork. Too bad I can't hang it on the refrigerator. A special thanks to Kristin and Julie for showing me how to do it. I made this blanket for a girl that I used to babysit for years, lots of years, ago who is now having a baby of her own. I hope she likes it.....
Then and now......
So this is NOT what we wanted to hear at Charlie's eight month post-op appointment. It is not written in stone yet, because he is still growing and it's possible that his head could actually get better as time goes on. We really hoped his last cranial reconstruction was going to put an end to all this, but we have always been aware that he could require additional procedures. Brian and I are completely satisfied with the improvement we've seen over the last year and are certain the shape of his head will only get better. Dr. Johnson also confirmed that Charlie's shunt is working properly and as long as it continues to drain fluid from his brain adequately, he won't require any surgeries to revise it. Yippee! See what prayers can do.....
Thanks to his speech therapist, Bene', Charlie has gone from a one word vocabulary to over 30! He has even began putting words together to make sentences, albeit, short ones. His favorite word right now is Max and he can say it better than anyone else in the family. Matthew, on the other hand, doesn't have to talk because Charlie is doing it for him. Smart thinking, Matthew, but if you don't start soon, you will join Charlie as one of Bene's patients.
